Introduction
An operating system can be defined as large system software that controls, coordinates, and extends the working capabilities of a computer.
It provides a proper working environment for other application software's to run and work for users.
There are two types of operating systems available in the IT field according to an interface, IE character user interface, and graphical user interface. We have already studied CUls (DOS). In this chapter, we shall learn about GUIs (windows).
A Graphical User Interface system provides a pictorial environment to work on a computer, there is no need to remember lots of commands and their syntax (DOS) to perform different tasks.
In GUIs per written commands are there to execute tasks. MS Windows is a GUIS, developed and marketed by Microsoft Corp., USA. There are different versions of Windows operating systems available in the market. Some of which are as follows,
